Presbyterian Church Moderator 1943-44, leader in Christian approach to social problems, author. Father of Yale University’s famed Chaplain, William Sloane Coffin.

James R. Angell (1869-1949), Am. educator and psychologist, professor of psychology (1894-1919), dean (1911-19), and acting president of Univ. of Chicago (1918-19). He was President of the Carnegie Corporation 1920-21, President of Yale University 1921-37, and an author. He was married to Marion Isabel Watrous (1894–1931)and Katharine Cramer Woodman (1931–1949).”
