Description: “(1858-1932) NY US Rep 1911-13, 1st US Secretary of Commerce (1913-19) taking office immediately after the Department of Commerce and Labor was divided into the Department of Commerce and the Department of Labor on the last day of President Taft’s term.
TLS on 9 ¾ x 7 ¾ letterhead as President, The Brooklyn National Bank of New York, June 14 1930, to B. O. Moody, President of the First National Bank, Amherst, Mass. Redfield’s sister told him of Moody’s kindness to her on her visit to Amherst cemetery in connection with her burial plot there, sends his personal appreciation. Redfield also mentions having an 1858 $2 Amherst Bank note hanging in a case on a bank wall.”
