Description: “(1860-1941) Polish pianist, composer, and statesman. Debuted in Vienna in 1887 and Paris in 1889, became the most popular concert pianist since Liszt and especially known for his interpretations of Chopin. He made his 1st US tour in 1891. His compositions include his 1901 opera “Manru”, a symphony, concertos, and orchestral and piano pieces, among which is his popular “Minuet in G”. He devoted himself to the cause of Polish independence 1910-20. He aided in assistance of Polish victims of WW I and made US concert tours to raise funds for Polish relief. After WW I, he was elected Prime Minister and also served as Foreign Minister of the Polish Republic, serving January-November 1919.
