Description: “(1804-1875) No. Carolina Whig US Senator 1840-43, Governor 1845-49, Secretary of the Navy 1850-52 (Fillmore), Whig VP candidate 1852 with Winfield Scott. No. Carolina CSA Senator 1864-65. In 1866 Graham was again elected to the US Senate, but because North Carolina had not yet been readmitted to the Union, he did not present his credentials.
