Description: (B. 1948) Heir apparent and eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Philip. Prince of Wales since 1958 (investitute 1969), longest-serving heir apparent in British history. After earning a BA from Trinity College, Cambridge, served tour of duty with the Royal Navy 1971–76. Married Lady Diana Spencer (d. 1997) 1981, separated 1992, divorced 1996. They had 2 sons, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge 1982 and Prince Harry of Wales 1984. In 2005, the Prince married Camilla Parker-Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall. Well-known for his charity work, sponsors The Prince’s Trust, The Prince’s Regeneration Trust, and the Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment, among other charities. He has been outspoken concerning architecture and the conservation of old buildings and has produced a book on the subject called “A Vision of Britain” (1989).

Signed “Charles 1984” on lower white border. From collection of Edward Saltzman who commanded the DCPD’s motorcycle unit for motorcade security details; he is 4th officer on the left in the front row in white helmet. Charles and Diana visited Washington in November 1985 for a 4-day visit, including a gala dinner hosted by President Reagan; we can find no record of Charles visiting Washington in 1984!
