Good content TLS “George” while Vice President, on 10 ½ x 7 ¼ “George Bush for President” letterhead with gilt seal at top, Washington, December 31 1987, to Barnee Breeskin (typed “Mr. Breeskin” salutation crossed out by Bush, penning “Barnee”), long time friend and supporter. Bush, about to begin a most eventful and triumphant 1988, thanks Breeskin for being “one of the earliest contributors to my 1988 campaign”, he and Barbara are grateful for his friendship. With his campaign launched, he is glad Breeskin is on his team, his contribution “…the seed money that will lead us to nomination victory in New Orleans and an election win in November 1988.” He closes: “There will be many challenges ahead as well as wonderful success along the way. Your friendship and support will sustain us and together we will share in the victories.”

Barnee Breeskin (1910-1989) 1930-56 orchestra leader at the famous Washington DC Shoreham Hotel’s Blue Room. In 1938, he wrote and obtained the copyright for the music for “Hail to the Redskins”, the Washington Football Team’s former fight song. Breeskin was associated with the “Redskins” since the team moved from Boston in 1937. He led the Redskin Wigwam Band, which played in a teepee high above old Griffith Stadium and was the team’s director of entertainment 1938-52. A long-time Washington PR executive, he led the Washington “Tent” (chapter) of the Circus Saints & Sinners Club of America, Inc., a national organization that raises money for local charities, up to his death.
